How Does Palomar Lux IR work?
The Palomar LuxIR Fractional treatment delivers infrared light pulses
deep into the dermis, where it creates carefully controlled areas of
elevated temperature, creating an immediate tightening effect and
stimulating collagen growth for an ongoing, long term benefit.
The Lux IR's infrared light is delivered as an array of small regularly
spaced beams, which creates a 'lattice" of treated islets, with each
islets surrounded by unaffected tissue.
Fractional deep heating is a much safer method of treatment than the
uniform heating (coagulation) available in other skin tightening devices.
Trauma to the tissue is limited using this approach, leaving
surrounding tissues healthy and able to quickly repair, and remodel,
without downtime. The Lux IR is unique in that it's energy bypasses
the epidermal layer to reduce the damage to the skin, while
incorporating a contact sensor to prevent uneven heating of the skin,
unlike other devices. This greatly improves the rejuvenating effect.
While an immediate benefit will occur, collagen continues to form
over a period of months, creating a long lasting tightening and
fresher look to the skin.
What are the treatments like?
Some of our clients have experienced the pain and discomfort
associated with Thermage and Titan. The feedback we get with
the Lux IR, indicates a much more pleasant treatment with
minimal discomfort.
The Lux IR, once in contact with the skin, delivers a 3 stage contact
cooling, before, during and after each pulse, creating a sensation
much like an ice cube against the skin, this eliminates the need
for messy cooling gels.
